Pre – Trade test (CHIETA non-voucher)
P and T Technology (Pty) Ltd Electrical Competency Training Institute is an accredited provider with the Energy SETA and the CHIETA .
The training and development centre at the 141 Lamp Road, Wadeville, Germiston offers a development program for Section 28 (Electrician Chemical) on a closely managed facilitation basis.
This section 28 evaluation means to compare previous learning and experience from a candidate, however obtained against a specific qualification. The section 28 evaluation involves assessing the candidate’s knowledge and skills within the working environment and to identify the gaps for the candidate to attempt a (CHIETA) National Trade Test
The evaluation tasks will include but is not limited to the following:
- Electrical wire ways (PVC/Bosal conduits, trunking, cable tray etc.)
- Install and terminate low voltage cable
- Install and commission electrical measuring instruments and control devices (KWH meters and load balancing.)
- Select and use electrical measuring instruments for testing and inspecting an electrical installation and fault finding on single and three phases AC motors
- Wire and commission a three / single phase electrical installation (3 phase motors, socket outlets, single phase stove, geyser, , lights, and etc.)
- Install luminaries
- Design and construct single and three AC machines and control gear
- A knowledge assessment based on electrical exposure
- Target audience
- Electricians working in Domestic installations.
- Maintenance electricians in commercial and industrial installations.
- Electricians wanting to upgrade their knowledge on motors and starters.
- Electricians requiring assessment at Trade Test for CHIETA qualification.
Pre-requisites
- Not less than 5 years relevant experience in the electrical industry. Must meet relevant SETA criteria in order to do the trade test N2 or equivalent.
- Have met CHIETA criteria for the pre trade test
- Additional documentation as required by CHIETA

NOTE: All conditions need to be met for Trade test application this training intervention is for trade test preparation only. A separate application needs to be done for the actual trade test.
