P & T Training, a committed occupational training provider in Gauteng, dedicated to learner development and workplace readiness, recently became the target of a fraudulent placement scheme.
Our institution was contacted by what appeared to be a bona fide agency, helping with the placement of a group of our skills training apprentices at a workplace. The agency presented documentation aligned with legitimate requirements. As part of the placement process, P & T Training incurred costs associated with the required medical clearances for the learners, ensuring they were fully prepared for their work-based learning experience. Arrangements were made for the learners to report to the designated workplace as stipulated in the placement agreement with the agency on our behalf.
However, upon arrival, the learners contacted our offices in confusion – the workplace in question had no knowledge of any agreement, nor were they expecting learners to report for duty. Upon immediate investigation, it became clear that this placement was not legitimate.
P & T Training responded without delay, ensuring the safe and prompt return of all learners to their respective homes. We take this matter very seriously and have handed it over to our legal department for further investigation. At P & T Training, our primary concern is the well-being and professional development of our apprentices. We remain committed to providing high-quality training and ethical workplace placement opportunities in collaboration with trusted partners. Finally, it remains our top priority to hold the parties responsible accountable and to minimise the impact of the fraudulent scheme on our learners.
